Founded in 2004 by Sheenagh Day, Maison Bengal was born after Sheenagh returned to the UK from Dhaka, Bangladesh. Having spent several years in the aid sector, Sheenagh was deeply moved by the traditional artisanal skills of weaving and basket making she encountered in some of the country’s most marginalized communities. Inspired by this, she decided to create a fair trade company that would provide a market for these skilled artisans.

Maison Bengal focuses on using locally sourced, natural materials such as jute and hogla (a type of sea-grass), working closely with fair trade partner organisations to design and produce beautiful, sustainable products. 

Maison Bengal’s range is known for its blend of practicality, durability, and joy. Each item is crafted with care, reflecting a commitment to quality and ethical production.

These wonderful hand woven hogla dog baskets come in three sizes to accommodate most breeds. Hard wearing and hygienic, they are also very light so ideal for traveling with your pet.
